Jack and the Beanstalk Installation
The Wonderful Lizard of Oz
In 2000, Orlando hosted “LizArt,” a fundraising project by Mayor Glenda Hood that featured 200 fiberglass lizard statues – all created by local artists. The statues were displayed around the city for two years and were eventually auctioned off, raising thousands of dollars for cultural programs and for the downtown arts district.
One of the statues entitled, “The Wonderful Lizard of Oz” eventually found a home in the Children’s Department of the Orlando Public Library. In 2025, the statue was loaned to the Orange County Regional History Center for their “Orlando Collected” exhibit in honor of the city’s 150 anniversary.
